Why Join a Union?
We are always stronger together. When workers act and speak together, there is nothing we can’t accomplish; unions are the embodiment of that fact. Unions enable workers to defend their rights and fight for dignity, equality, and respect in the workplace. Unionised workplaces are often safer, and with better pay, terms and conditions.
Unions are also a powerful tool in the struggle for climate justice. Many unions actively campaign on climate issues and have even included environmentalist demands in their disputes with employers. Going into the future, Unions will have a vital role to play in organising a general strike for the climate.
Find your union!
There is a specialised union for almost every job or sector, as well as several general unions that represent workers in a wide range of industries. The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has a fantastic tool on their website to help find the right union for you. Click the button bellow to go to the TUC union finder.
There are also a few smaller, but very active, unions that are not listed on the union finder tool. We recommend looking in to the United Voices of the world (UVW), the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB) and the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW).
